The "insidious" attention

NORSK
Yesterday's reflection contained the following sentence: "Each day consists of moments where I have people's attention"

It is true, and every individual needs to be seen. But greed has always been a human weakness, and when it's something we like, we tend to desire more.

Peter could have gone into a dangerous trap when he seized the precious moment. The lame man had attention, but the focus was even stronger on Peter as the 'miracle worker'.

What did Peter do with the attention?
He immediately focused on Jesus. He is the source, he is the reason, he is the Savior and Healer:

Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus.
Acts 3:12-13
Every disciple of Jesus who allows himself to be led by the Holy Spirit will always get attention. There is a prize in coming forward. In extreme cases the prize can be the life of the disciple. But to be misunderstood is also painful, whether the disciple is given a status that is beyond the role of he has as an instrument in the hands of God (1) - or he is accused of having a hidden agenda, or told that he is keeping Jesus in the shade of himself.

Also in terms of attention, it is important that to be led by the Holy Spirit so that I know when I should keep on pointing to Jesus, or step back because the mission is accomplished.

'Manna' for today:
I need the guidance of the Holy Spirit to be able to use attention in the right way

(1) In this case it was Peter, but Paul and Barnabas had a similar experience in Lystra. They were thought to be Hermes and Zeus. Acts 14:12
