Setting the tone

A long time ago, I heard a story about an amateur-violinist who used to play his violin when he listened to broadcasted transmissions of classical concerts on the radio. He had one challenge, so he wrote to the broadcasting director and asked if it was possible to send the 'concert pitch' before the orchestra began to play. 

This was taken seriously, and it the likely explanation why this “part of the concert” often is part of the broadcasted music. It gives the listeners the opportunity to tune the instrument before they play together with the radioorchestra.

When I decided to read the book of Acts to learn more about the Holy Spirit, it is interesting to note that Luke sets the tone at once by referring to the interaction between Jesus and the Holy Spirit:

In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.
Acts 1:1-2

If it had just stated: "giving instructions", I would probably not have thought about it, but itmust have been important for Luke to reveal the interaction between the man Jesus and the Holy Spirit. An interaction that is also expressed in the Gospel: In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit (Luke 10:21)

The theme is confirmed. The Holy Spirit is the "concert pitch" of Acts. Now it is given, and we can tune in and play along.
